Important Information for Ridgewood Water Customers

As your neighborhood real estate specialists, we’re sharing key details about Ridgewood Water’s voluntary Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The program lets homeowners “opt in” for a cost-effective replacement of lead or galvanized service lines.
While participation is voluntary under NJDEP rules, beginning in 2026 a Village of Ridgewood ordinance will require replacement upon sale or transfer. Ridgewood Water must work toward full replacement by 2031 and demonstrate annual outreach progress.
Program Highlights
Who:
Homeowners in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park & Wyckoff with service lines identified as lead, galvanized, or unknown.
What:
A voluntary program supporting New Jersey’s mandate to remove all lead/galvanized service lines by 2031.
When:
Contract 1 (2025–2026): First 500 sign-ups; work begins Summer 2025.
Contract 2 (2026–2027): Sign-ups open now; approx. 500 replacements expected each year.
Note: Homes on streets scheduled for paving may be advanced to Contract 1 to avoid reopening roads.
Cost:
Contract 1: $2,800 homeowner portion with one-time payment or ~1% APR financing.
Contract 2: Pricing TBD (summer 2026) but expected to remain well below private contractor rates.

Confirm your line material with Ridgewood Water before hiring anyone.
Copper lines do not need replacement.
